A devastating late-night collision at the main Koforidua traffic light intersection has left two people fighting for survival after a high-speed vehicle crushed a motorcycle before somersaulting into a gutter.

The horrifying crash, which occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 8, involved a private V8 vehicle and a motorbike.

Eyewitnesses at the scene revealed that the V8 was speeding from the direction of Bedtime Hotel when it slammed violently into the motorcycle as the rider attempted to navigate across toward China Mall.

The sheer force of the impact tossed the luxury vehicle into several mid-air flips before it landed in a nearby drainage ditch, while the motorcycle was crushed beyond recognition.

The motorbike rider, identified simply as Ernest, an employee at China Mall, suffered life-threatening injuries alongside his pillion passenger. Both victims were rushed to the emergency ward of the hospital, where medical staff are working around the clock to stabilize them.

Terrified residents and passersby who rushed to offer assistance blamed the sheer recklessness and high speed of the motorist for the tragic incident.

Officers from the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service have commenced investigations to establish the precise cause of the accident, while cautioning drivers to strictly adhere to speed limits within the Koforidua municipality.
