The Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF), in partnership with the 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development Secretariat (24H+), has officially launched a call for Expressions of Interest (EOI) from qualified consulting firms and consortia to carry out a pre-feasibility study for inland water transport along the Volta Lake.
The proposed study will focus on the Mpakadan–Asikuma–Buipe–Yapei corridor, exploring critical opportunities to enhance cargo transportation, strengthen logistics infrastructure, and unlock the commercial and investment potential along the waterway.
According to official details released under reference IWT-PFS/EOI/CS/26, the joint initiative forms part of broader national efforts to reinforce transport infrastructure, facilitate efficient cargo movement, and accelerate trade and economic expansion across Ghana.
Interested consulting firms and consortia are expected to submit their proposals physically to GIIF on the 4th Floor, Tower 1, Ministry of Finance, Kanda, Accra, no later than Monday, 19 October 2026, at 5:00 PM.
“This initiative is a major step towards strengthening Ghana’s transport infrastructure, improving cargo movement, and unlocking new opportunities for trade, investment, and economic growth,” a statement accompanying the announcement highlighted.
The secretariat further noted that the strategic project aligns with national priorities aimed at “building stronger connections, unlocking new opportunities, and driving Ghana’s economic transformation.”
