The Pre-Tertiary Teachers Association of Ghana has confirmed that the vast majority of its members have received bank notifications confirming the release of their long-awaited promotion salary adjustments and outstanding arrears.
The official confirmation follows a statement issued by the Ghana Education Service (GES), which disclosed that salary adjustments and back pay have been cleared for 56,003 teaching staff across the country.
According to the Service, the payment roll included 49,725 teachers who received their bank alerts on Thursday, October 15, alongside their regular monthly salaries. The settlement for this group covered adjustments and accrued arrears effective from January 1, 2026. An earlier batch of 6,278 teachers had their disbursements processed during the September payroll cycle.
Management of the Service noted that administrative work on all remaining claims has been completed, with outstanding files forwarded to the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD) to await the reopening of the official processing portal for final validation and payment.
Speaking on Rainbow Radio’s flagship morning news programme Nyankonton Mu Nsem, the Communications Officer for the Pre-Tertiary Teachers Association of Ghana, Mr Kingsley Ayimadu, validated the development, noting that text alerts had hit the bank accounts of most affected members.
“Most of our members have called in to confirm that they have received payment alerts for their October salaries alongside the promotion arrears,” Mr Ayimadu stated during the broadcast. “Our hope is that by the close of the day, every single teacher listed in the statement published by the GES will have received their full entitlements.”
He praised the patience and resilience of educators nationwide for remaining firm throughout the engagement process, emphasizing that steadfastness remains vital to securing better conditions of service.
“We commend our teachers for standing firm and resolute in demanding what is rightfully theirs,” he added. “We urge all members to maintain this unity and continue advocating relentlessly for the overall improvement of teacher welfare across the country.”
