The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has trained and deployed 11,788 beneficiaries under its Community Police Assistant module to strengthen public safety and assist law enforcement operations across the country.

Chief Executive Officer of the agency, Malik Basintale, announced the figures on Wednesday, 21 October, during the Government Accountability Series.

He explained that the module sits under the agency’s broader Youth in Community Service and Security initiative, which seeks to generate jobs for young people while providing them with practical experience in civic service and security management.

Addressing the gathering, Mr Basintale stated that the recruits received formal instruction and orientation tailored to the standards and operational needs of the Ghana Police Service.

“The Community Police Assistant module is a project under the Youth Employment Agency, under our module termed as Youth in Community Service and Security Module, developed to provide human resource support for the Ghana Police Service, as well as provide the opportunity for the youth to experience the service and explore the possibilities of pursuing a career in the field while contributing to public safety,” he said.

He noted that the beneficiary personnel were supplied with necessary logistical support and specialized skills to bolster national security operations.

“Persons who are engaged in this module are professionally trained and oriented by the Ghana Police Service and adequately equipped with the needed logistics, skills, and professional expertise to support the country’s overall security apparatus.

“In this regard, I am happy to report that as of September 2026, the YEA engaged, trained and deployed a total of 11,788 beneficiaries under the Community Police Assistance Module.”

Expanding on the agency’s wider scope of community-based interventions, Mr Basintale also revealed an upcoming educational partnership. The agency has formalised a memorandum of understanding with the Ghana Education Service (GES) to enlist and place 6,000 young individuals as community teaching assistants by November 2026.

This teaching intervention aims to supply essential support to basic schools, particularly those situated in remote and underserved communities, offering young people paid classroom exposure without substituting professional teaching staff.

“I’m happy to report that, as of September, an MoU has been successfully signed with the Ghana Education Service for the onboarding of 6,000 beneficiaries, whom we hope to recruit and deploy by November this year,” Malik Basintale added.

According to the agency boss, these targeted modules ensure that young Ghanaians earn a steady income and acquire relevant career skills whilst directly advancing local development priorities.
