The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has destroyed a vast stash of seized illicit substances valued at over $10 million as part of ongoing operations to stamp out drug trafficking across the country.
The disposal exercise took place on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at the Bundase Infantry Training School in the Greater Accra Region, following a destruction order granted by the court.
The destroyed contraband comprised a wide range of intercepted narcotic and psychotropic substances. Among the items burnt were 564.39 kilogrammes of cannabis with an estimated street value of $112,878, alongside 4,730,100 capsules and tablets of synthetic opioids valued at approximately $5,912,625.
In addition, security officers disposed of 338,000 bottles of codeine-infused cough mixture, which carried an estimated market value of $4,225,000.
Officials of the Commission reiterated their commitment to intensifying surveillance and enforcement across key transit corridors to prevent Ghana from being used as a hub or destination for illegal drug cartels.
