Private legal practitioner lawyer Tachie Antiedu has described the happenings in Parliament as troubling saying this is a recipe for chaos and confusion.
The secret balloting for the election of the Speaker of the 8th Parliament has stalled over disagreements between both sides of the House.
After several disagreements between both sides over the injunction placed on the Assin North MP, the Clerk ruled that the MP elect cannot be recognised as MP-elect.
Later when the voting started, some NPP MPs displayed their secret balloting forcing the MP-elect for Asawaase Muntaka Mubarak took the ballot box protesting the action by the NPP MPs.
Lawyer Tachie Antiedu reacting to this expressed worry saying it is not good especially when Ghanaians have asked the MPs to work together.
He said the President-elect Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has called for consensus but the deadlock between the two sides is unhealthy.
The lawyer speaking on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm asked the parliamentarians to consider the interest of Ghana and reach a compromise.
When asked if any attempt by the NDC to boycott the inauguration of Nana Akufo-Addo will have any consequence said it is a challenge because the law is not clear on that.
He said the argument by some individuals that there should be at least 140 MPs before the swearing-in is done cannot be true.
He was hopeful the House will finally come to a compromise and elect the Speaker, so they would be sworn-in, and the Deputy Speakers elected.
He concluded by admonishing the leaders of both parties to speak to their representatives in parliament for them to reach a compromise and allow the processes to continue.
