The Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ayawaso Central constituency, Bismark Boateng, has admonished Ghanaians to accept the E-Levy proposed by the government.
According to him, the E-Levy is an agenda for job creation, development and self dependence.
He argued that Ghanaians have always complained over how the government keeps borrowing and a new approach has been introduced to help us reduce our borrowing spree hence Ghanaians must support it.
To him, the levy would help resolve the issue of school under trees, help out several health structures to provide health needs of Ghanaians.
He stressed the levy is an initiative worth supporting.
He further noted that the government is not oblivious of the concerns being raised over the proposed E-levy.
The 1.75% tax on electronic financial transactions was proposed in the 2022 budget presented to Parliament by the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, on Wednesday, November 17, 2021.
The Minister explained that the tax measure was to raise revenue to support job creation initiatives, construction of road infrastructure, cybersecurity, and digital infrastructure.
