Bishop Mixed JHS gets 9-unit classroom block

December 14, 2021

The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) and Enterprise Group have handed over a three-storey classroom block with ancillary facilities to the Bishop Mixed Junior High School in Accra.

The project which was funded by the Enterprise Group at a cost of GH¢2.5 million was handed over to authorities of the school on Friday after its commissioning.

The new school block comes with nine classrooms, washrooms on each floor, a 3-bed infirmary, computer laboratory, a modern library and an office for the headteacher.

Speaking at the ceremony Chief Executive of the AMA Hon Elizabeth Naa Kwatsoe Tawiah Sackey, commended the Enterprise Group for complementing the efforts of the government towards the development of education in the city.

She noted that the new school block would help provide a conducive environment for education which would encourage teaching and learning as well as the upbringing of children.

” As an Assembly, we are deeply elated that we have a partner that shares in our vision in seeing a better Accra on all fronts…Indeed, this is but one of many interventions carried out by the Enterprise Group in this city… This same school has benefitted from the Financial Literary programme embarked upon by Enterprise, which had a positive impact on both parents, teachers and students who participated,” she said.

She was hopeful the provision of the new school block would help improve academic performance and pass rate among students of the school as well as impact the lives of children.

She assured that the AMA would ensure regular maintenance of the facility to serve its purpose.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Enterprise Group, Mr Keli Gadzekpo in a remark said his outfit as part of its Corporate Social Investment (CSI) decided to invest in a long-term sustainable project and chose the youth as beneficiaries.

“The project thrilled us for two reasons. Firstly, an investment in the youth is an investment in our collective future thus money spent on our youth’s education is money well spent. Secondly, it is our way of giving back to the community that has hosted Enterprise Life and its office for many years.”

“By this one deed of ours, generations of students will have an advantage in life because they now have a safe and conducive environment in which they can study”, he added.

Also present at the event was the Anglican Bishop of the Diocese of Accra, Dr Daniel Silvanus Mensah Torto, Director of the Ministry of Education – Divine Ayidzoe, teachers and pupils of the Bishop’s Mixed JHS among others.
