No Ghanaian should struggle to access portable water-Osei Nyarko

The Member of Parliament for Akim Swedru, Mr Kennedy Nyarko Osei has stated that no Ghanaian should struggle for portable water.

Contributing to the statement made by the Deputy Minister for Sanitation Water and Resource, Chinna Amidu Issahaku he said irrespective of how expensive it will be, members of Parliament can resolve that every Ghanaian has portable water.

He said every point in our life we need enough water because water is life.

He opined that the government alone cannot provide water for all so in their little ways, MPs should assist in providing access to good drinking water for their constituents.

He also called on the Ghana Water Company to pay more attention to faulty pipelines so we can save more water.

Meanwhile, the board chairman of Ghana Water, Mr Patrick Boamah also assured that government will continue to support Ghanaians to have access to portable Water.

He revealed that government has spent about $700 million dollars in terms of investment to supply water.

He called on Ghanaians demanding for more projects to change their attitudes preserve water.

World Water Day is observed on March 22 every year to educate about the importance of water to the whole world and to raise awareness about the water crisis.

The day also highlights the necessary improvement for access to water, hygiene facilities, and sanitation in all countries.

It is celebrated to raise public awareness about the benefits of water, one of the essential elements of our ecosystem, and take some concrete action in terms of preservation and conservation of water resources, every year World Water Day is celebrated.

The theme for World Water Day 2022 is ‘Groundwater, making the invisible visible.

The idea of International Water Day started in 1992, the year in which the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro took place. That same year, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution by which 22 March of each year was declared world day for water, to be observed starting in 1993.
