We cannot move out because of armed robbers but Police demanding fuel before patrols- Shikpontele residents

June 8, 2022

Residents in Shikpontele in the Greater Accra Region are currently living in fear over repeated cases of robbery attacks.

The residents told Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5fm that the area is no longer safe for them as robbers and thieves are always attacking them.

They also alleged that when they went to the Police station to file a complaint, the officers there told them they had no fuel in their car to go with them.

The residents appealed to authorities to intensify patrols in the area to scare off the alleged robbers who are taking advantage of the situation in the area to rob them of their valuables.

The situation they lamented has existed in the area for far too long and ”residents are unable to move around easily, especially in the evening. We have gone to the Amasaman Police station to report, but the Police told us to fuel their vehicles before they patrol the area”.

We are appealing to the IGP and the Police Service to know about what is happening so he will deal with the issue,” a resident said.
