I’ve not endorsed Bawumia or any other candidate- Kufour

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has denied endorsing Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the New Patriotic Party prepares to organize the presidential primaries.

In a statement issued by the former president, he said such an endorsement had not happened contrary to claims that Mr. Kufour did.

The statement which was signed by his aide and spokesperson Dr. Kwabena Osei-Adubofour said both the former president and Dr. Bawumia were guests at a fathers day event which was organised by Peduase Valley View Hotel on Sunday June 19, 2022.

The statement said the Vice President attended the event after he got win of information that the former president would be president.

Dr. Bawumia was originally attending an assignment in the North, the statement said.

The former president speaking at the event said he was pleased that the second gentleman of the land made time to attend the event despite his tight schedule.

The statement further explained that Mr. Kufour disclosed he had always been close to the Vice President and treated him like a true son.

“There is nothing political about his remarks or even the occasion.

President Kufour wants people to know that the other much talked-about prospective NPP flagbearership candidates, like Alan Kyeremanten, Boakye Agyarko, Joe Ghartey, and Dr. Owusu Afriyie, all have close relationships with him,” the statement explained.
