Don’t apply for YEA jobs, it is a waste of time; learn a skill- ILAPI Boss

September 18, 2022

The Executive Director of the Institute of Liberty and Policy Innovation (ILAPI) has discouraged people from applying to work as Community Policing Assistants and Community Health Workers.

Mr. Peter Bismark Kwofie believes that applying to join these Youth Employment Agency modules would be a waste of time and energy.

In his opinion, it would be better for them to learn a skill or trade.

He described how the NABCO recipients were laid off, with the majority of them failing to learn a skill

He emphasised that the youth should consider apprenticeship and skill training because they will be starting their own businesses.

The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has announced the call for the application of interested persons who want to work as Community Policing Assistants and Community Health Workers (CHWs).

Interested applicants are to note that the submission of the application will start on Monday, September 19, 2022, and end on October 14, 2022.

The applicants applying for the the jobs, should be between 18-35 years with a minimum qualification of Senior high School education.

But Mr. Bismark Kwofir says it would be a waste of time for the applicants.

He wrote “Go and learn a skill. Apprenticeship is more beneficial than this. It will waste your time and use you to canvass for votes. Please don’t join the community police. It’s important to learn any of the blue colored jobs than to join this vote buying programs of the government.

In 2017, people joined NABCO for three years and exited the program without any skill. Those who joined the NABCO and community police programs at age 35 are now 40 years. Their lives and dreams have been shuttered.

Those who took my advice and joined the apprenticeship spree are through and are working for their masters on Work-and-Pay. After few months away, they will graduate and have their own workstations to earn income from the skills.

Build your future prospects by learning a trade or going into a three year apprenticeship program including carpentry, car mechanic/fittings, electricals, building construction, hair dressing, catering, phone/TV/computer repairing, fabrication, photography, video editing, decorations, etc.”
