Some National Democratic Congress branch executives in the Ngleshie Amanfrom constituency have expressed concerns that the party’s chances in the 2024 general elections will be jeopardised.
Several attempts to persuade the party structure to resolve the impasse, they claim, have failed.
They are concerned that if the issues are not resolved, the organisation of the constituency election, which is scheduled for four weeks, will be jeopardised.
The branch executives and concerned members of the party said they petitioned the constituency, regional, and national offices, detailing the various infractions and disregard for rules and guidelines, as well as frauds committed by the leadership of Bortiano Ngleshie Amanfrom’s constituency executives.
They claimed that the executives arrogantly ignored party guidelines and fraudulently imposed their favourites on as many as 117 newly formed branches without recourse to FEC guidelines issued through the General Secretary, as opposed to the previous 106 branches.
Mr Teddy Asare, the chairman of the Tsokomey NDC Branch, along with the chairman of the brigade branch, Mr Kenneth Mensah, and the branch secretary, revealed some illegalities and irregularities in almost all of the processes leading to the recently concluded branch reorganisation, including the illegal insertion of names into the old branch.
They also claimed that branch chairmen/persons and their executives were tasked with collecting money from new registrants to register during the recently concluded limited registration period and that those who could not afford GH20 were not registered.
“Several nominees were recently called on the phone only to be told that they have been made branch executives without picking and signing nomination forms,” they added.
These were revealed at a press conference held this week in Tuba, Greater Accra.
