54% of Ghanaians in a new snap poll want Akufo-Addo to step down

54% of respondents in a new snap poll by Global InfoAnalytics are in favour of calls for the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to step down.

Also, 40 percent were against it, with the remaining six percent saying they did not have any opinion on the subject matter.

Following the economic crisis, 78 percent of respondents supported the call for the Economic Management Team, led by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to be replaced, while 18 percent opposed it and four percent did not express an opinion.

According to the poll, 12% of respondents found the President’s economic recovery speech inspiring.

25% thought it was uninspiring. While 22% believed the speech addressed the major issues, 38 believed it did not.

In addition, the poll sought respondents’ thoughts on former President John Dramani Mahama’s recent speech.

Only 11% of those polled found it inspiring, while 9 percent found it uninspiring. 38 percent said it addressed the major issues, 11 percent said it did not, and 6 percent did not have an opinion.

The poll asked which of the speeches gave people hope.

In comparison to Nana Akufo-speech, Addo’s 56 percent said John Mahama’s speech provided more hope.

16 percent said Nana Akufo-speech Addo’s inspired hope; 15 percent said none inspired hope; and 11 percent said both speeches inspired hope.

When asked who they would trust to better manage the crisis if elected, 43% said John Mahama, 17% said Alan Kyerematen, 14% said Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, 8% said Kennedy Agyapong, 1% said Dr Kwabena Duffuor, and 19% said someone else.

The poll had a sample size of 1407.

The sample size was assigned to each of the 16 regions based on the total number of voters in each region according to the EC 2020 register, with an estimated voter population of 17 million.

Voters were interviewed at random in each regional capital.

Interviews were conducted between October 31, 2022 and November 1, 2022.
