The Progressive People’s Party (PPP) has described Dr. Afari Gyan as a better EC chair due to his good human relations.
National Chairman of the party, Nii Allotey Brew Hammond in an interview with Kwabena Agyapong on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm said, the current chairperson Mrs. Jean Mensa has so far exhibited poor human relations.
“Afari Gyan was better in terms of his human relations but Charlotte Osei was poor and the current EC chair, Mrs. Jean Mensa from the engagement I have had with her has shown she has poor human relations. We have to be concerned about this before it goes bad, ” he said.
He was worried the situation could lead to a serious crisis if not checked.
Commenting on the alleged brawl between the EC chair and Johnson Asiedu Nketiah at a recent Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting, he said the EC boss goofed when she said the EC did not owe the political parties an explanation on what it does.
Mr. Brew Hammond said the posture of the EC has been bad because that is not the way a public institution relate or engage with its stakeholders.
To him, IPAC should be chaired by the largest opposition party instead of the EC.
This move he said has empowered the EC and making them disregard all suggestions from the parties.
On the decision by the EC to create some 25 new constituencies, the PPP chairperson said the decision is a bad one and should not be entertained.
He said it makes no sense to create new constituencies because the law has said so when there are important issues to be addressed.
