A member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Agyenim Boateng has described Mr. Joshua Akamba, the National Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as irresponsible whose attitude caused unnecessary mayhem and tension at the Police Headquarters.
Some National Democratic Congress stalwarts and supporters including Mr. Akamba, after the arrest of its party’s Chairman Mr. Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo gathered in front of the police Headquarters trying every possible means to enter the premises. The supporters threatened to sleep there if the police had not released their Chairman.
Mr. Agyemin said, Mr. Ofosu- Ampofo is not the only person in Ghana who has been invited by the police.
Hon. Kennedy Agyapong the Member of Parliament for Assin Central was arrested and charged for treason, even it got to an extend that family and friends of the legislator searched for him everywhere in the country but could not find him. His family had to move one location to the other because the government at the time refused to let his people visit him.
A similar thing happened to Mr. Antwi Bosiako aka ‘Wontumi’ Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party. When he was arrested, we tried all means for him to be granted enquiry bail at the police but it did not happen, he stressed.
Mr. Ofgosu-Ampofo was arrested by the police at Number 3 Church Street at the Labone Estates in Accra yesterday while having a meeting with a group of people over recent kidnappings and arson in somer markets in Kumasi.
He was held for over 5 hours and was subsequently released on bail and expected to report to the CID on Thursday June 13, 2019.
Meanwhile, Joshua Hamidu Akamba says the invitation by the police to the party’s chair was useless, from robotic, confused and political police won’t be entertained.”
Joshua Akamba further suggested that but for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the Director-General of CID Madam Tiwaa Addo Danquah should have been arrested over her earlier comments indicating that the kidnapped Takoradi girls had been found and being kept safely.
”But for Akuffo Addo, Tiwaa herself should have been Arrested,” he added in a Facebook post.
