Akyem-Chia Star Light Academy marks 2nd Anniversary


 

The Akyem-Chia Star Light Academy in the Eastern region has marked its 2nd anniversary over the weekend.

The school which started with just 30 pupils (14 boys and 16 girls) and two teachers is currently having 440 pupils with 15 teaching staff and 5 non-teaching staff.

 

Headmistress of the school, Mrs. Martha Awuley Yeboah, delivering her speech said the hard work of teachers and staff in general has brought success to the school and increased the population from 30/to over 400 pupils.

The school she indicated provides both spiritual, social, physical and the best of teaching and learning in a serene environment for pupils.

The school she said is faced with a number of challenges despite its great achievements.

 

She mentioned transport and educational infrastructure.

She appealed to the Parent and Teacher Association (PTA) and individuals for support in order to improve teaching and learning at the school.

The headmistress pledged to parents the school will continue to instill discipline in their pupils and help to raise brilliant students for the community and challenged parents to continue supporting the school so it will grow in leaps and bounds.

The Circuit Supervisor, Agyeman Alenxander speaking on behalf of the Educational Director for the District, Rosemond Antwi, admonished parents to invest heavily in the education of their wards.

 

She explained that education is the greatest asset parents can give to their wards because education is the only key to unlocking the potentials of the youth and also help in national development.

Speaking on the theme, ‘’Let Us Rise and Build’’, she said, the theme is a reminder of the role parents have to play in contributing to the growth of their wards in an attempt to raise generational thinkers who would in thing help Ghana develop.
