The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has reacted to the decision by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to withdraw from the ongoing Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election.

National Communications Director for the NPP Yaw Buabeng Asamoah says t6he decision was premeditated.

Yaw Buabeng Asamoah says the NDC has failed their people by chickening out of the process.

He also claiming that the the security operatives were shot at first and there was exchange of gunfire.

He also slammed the NDC for tarnishing the image of the EC.

“Damaging the integrity of the Electoral commission, damaging the integrity of the people who are voting and indeed cowardly and recklessly leaving their people in the field.

“We expect them to lead people who believe in them, there is a substantial number of people who believe in the NDC who have not been led this morning, those people have been abandoned this morning. Those people have seen the worst kind of leadership that any political party can exhibit.

He called on the leadership of the NDC to resign from their position.

“It wouldn’t be beyond them if they should resign because, leadership which is starting out their first challenge is a by-election and they create chaos, imaginary chaos and they walk out of the field and leave their people on the field. I think they have failed and they should unashamedly resign their positions”.

General Secretary, John Boadu, said the NDC was trying to scare people from voting.

“This is the impression our opponents want to create in order to scare people from going to vote. Other than that what is the problem? Our sisters and brothers on the other side always will want to create confusion. When they are in government, it is worse, and when they are in opposition, they are more dangerous.”
