Greater Accra Regional Director for Sports, Mr Richard Idrrisu, has stated emphatically that we should blame the system for lack of technical Men.
Speaking to Isaac Wallace on Rainbow sports the tough talking director for sports said, technical men are not many because when they go on retirement the system does not replace them.
He said his outfit has informed the NSA to put in place measures to address the challenge.
‘’There is lack of technical men in the country, when you go to Tamale they don’t have athletics coach, you go to the other regions they don’t have technical men. We have not been able to replace those who have retired or the ones who are dead and left the job in the hands of P.E teachers.’’
Base on the system we are operating the IMF has restricted us from employing but we are fighting as soon as the least chance is given, we will employ a coach.
Meanwhile, he has lamented the unattractive salaries paid them, a situation he explained may prevent interested persons from taking up jobs as technical men.
For him, his passion for sports has kept him going but if he were to depend on his salary, he would have given up the job.
He appealed to government to improve upon the salaries of officials at the NSA to serve as motivation for them to work efficiently and effectively.
He also called for investment in sports infrastructure especially at the basic level to help nature talents in our various schools.
He opined the education system has been too academic with less attention given to sporting activities. He wants much attention to be given to physical education our schools just as like academics.
He was also not happy at the lack of attention given to young talents and underscored the need for the state to invest in younger talents.
Mr Iddrisu is a football writer and researcher, and his quest is to see the best standards set for the development of the sports in the country.
