A communications team member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Agyei Yeboah aka Nana K, has called on Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), to apologise over the leaked tape.
Commenting on the controversial leaked tape, he admonished Mr Ampofo to consider his position as an elder of the Pentecost Church, and apologise over the unfortunate comments he made.
He slammed communicators of the NDC for suggesting the tape was doctored and has therefore challenged them to provide the original tape to prove their critics wrong.
‘’The NDC should stop insulting Ghanaians by claiming the tape was doctored. Who will doctor the tape of Mr Ampofo? They should give us a break. If the tape has been doctored, they should provide us with the original one so we subject it to probe so we will know it was truly doctored. The tape is not doctored. If you should take your time and listen to the tape, you will realise the tape was not doctored and so, Mr Ampofo should come out and apologise. He should consider his position as an elder of the Pentecost Church and come out and apologise.’’
He also called for the arrest and prosecution of Mr Ampofo because what he said was criminal and had security implications.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has invited the National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo to assist in investigations.
According to a statement signed by the Deputy Director-General for the Director-General, ACP George Tweneboah, “The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has intercepted an audio message circulating in both traditional and social media on Wednesda, 27th February, 2019, in which you are alleged to have made some comments that have some security implications.”
Mr. Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo is therefore requested to report to the CID Headquarters on Thursday, 28th February, 2019 at 10am.
A leaked audio circulating on social media and purported to be the voice of NDC’s National Chairman, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo is creating ‘fear and panic’ ahead of the 2020 General elections.
The leaked tape which is believed to be from a meeting held at the NDC’s headquarters days after the infamous Ayawso West Wuogon by-election violence, captures leading members of the opposition party allegedly planning strategies the NDC will use to regain power in 2020.
