Decision to disband vigilante groups is the greatest news I’ve heard-Delta Force Commander

The Commanding Officer for pro-New Patriotic Party (NPP) vigilante group Delta Force, Kwadwo Bamba, says it was all joy for him after President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo admonished political parties to disband all existing vigilante groups.

Speaking in an interview with Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, he said he was extremely happy the president called on parties to disband these groups.

For him, President Akufo-Addo has shown to the nation he loves Ghana hence the need for citizens to congratulate him.

The existence of Delta Force he said was not for lawlessness but is was established to provide protection for the party because in the past, members of the NPP were being targeted and attacked and the then government, showed no interest in protecting their lives.

It was established to propagate the policies of the NPP and to resist the rigging of polls and snatching of ballot boxes, he further stated.

‘’President Akufo-Addo should be commended. He has shown to Ghanaians he is a great leader and listener. Ghanaians called for the disbandment of vigilante groups and Nana Addo has asked the political parties i.e NPP and NDC to disband their groups. This is  a good call and all the political parties should heed to it.”

He admonished the NDC to heed to the call, desist from using thugs to snatch boxes from especially the strong holds of the ruling party.

When asked the kind of job he would suggest for members, he said, members of the group are not lawless people or jobless. We have formed watchdog committees providing protection in the areas we reside, we engage in communal labour, some of our members are business owners, degree holders, lawyers and other professionals and so we are going to  depend on our  various professions.

He was however quick to clarify that, the members of the group were not paid but they sacrificed their time and energy to serve the party.
