Easter Friday Fire destroys property at Kumasi second hand clothing market

Fire has gutted shops at the second hand clothing section at the Kumasi Central Market in the Dr Mensah area.

The fire according information gathered destroyed everything on site at the market.

The cause of the fire which started around 10 pm on Good Friday is yet to be established.

It has been reported that a security guard on duty had made an attempt to put out the fore but failed.

He was said to have called the fire service after the fire became worse.

The Ashanti Regional Fire Service Commander, ACFO Joshua Nguah, reacting to the fire stressed on the need for people to report fire cases early and stop underrating fires.

“I am sure if we had been called early enough the extent of damage would have been minimised.”

“We are professionals and have the eye to detect and solve fire problems. Although we were called late, we thank God we have been able to put out the fire.”

“It’s difficult to estimate the cost of things destroyed now but definitely, people’s capital are gone,” he said.
