Family of Man who was mistaken for ‘killer’ for Suale demands for justice

It has emerged that the arrest made by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) into the murder of investigative journalist Ahmed Hussein-Sale is a mistaken identity.

The suspect Abdul Rashid Meizongo, 29, was arrested at the mall in Accra and was kept in custody for days.

However, it has emerged that his arrest was a mistaken identity.

His senior brother, Nasir Meizongo, told Rainbow Radio’s Kwabena Agyapong that his brother’s arrest was a mistake and has since been granted bail.

According to him, the police has said they arrested Rashid based on the information the had but his arrest has turned out to be a terrible mistake.

The brother he disclosed is currently traumatized and has refused to step out of the house.

The arrest he lamented has damaged his brother’s personal life.

He is also alleging that the brother may have suffered physical torture in the hands of the police because he has consistently complained of severe body pains.

The family he also disclosed want the CID to come out and tell the public that the arrest was a mistake in order to repair the damage caused.

”We entreat the CID to come out and inform the public that the arrest was a mistake. They have to come out just like they did when they made the arrest. The arrest has affected our brother psychologically. He is traumatized and currently in pain. We are not happy at how he was treated but we believe the CID will end this matter and clear our brother,” he said.

Meanwhile, it has also emerged that Rashid Meizongo was in the process of getting married the Islamic way but the arrest has affected the purpose.

”The arrest or process has interrupted his marriage preparations. He had done the knocking and was in the process of completing all the necessary procedures for his marriage before his unlawful arrest,” he said.

‘The arrest has damaged his personal life. He has refused to do anything. He has refused to step out of the house to do anything. Even if you ask him to lock the gate in our house, he refuses to do it.”

Nasir Meizongo said his junior brother was responsible for the family’s activities and was also the caretaker of their family lands and farms in the Eastern region but all these activities have been affected.
