The Cashew Farmers Association Of Ghana has appealed to President Nana Addo Dankwa AkufoAddo to with immediate effect, establish the Cashew Development Board as promised during the 2016 campaign period.
The National President of the Cashew Farmers Association Of Ghana who is also the Adumhene of the Wenchi Traditional Area, Nana Adu Baomponsem VI made the appeal on behalf of the association at Wenchi in the Bono West Region.
Speaking with the media a press briefing, the traditional ruler said, members gathered from the media that, there was a plan by government to meet establish a tree crop board, a decision they were totally against.
The farmers therefore want government to rather establish the cashew developments not just like was promised by Nan’s Addo then presidential candidate for the ruling NPP.
The chief also reminded the President to fulfill the promise of making every 3rd Tuesday in February a cashew day.
Kwadwo McRae’s, who was at the press briefing reported that, the chief further appealed to the government to establish a regulatory body to help regulate the price of cashew in the country.
Nana Adu Baomponsem VI commended government for fulfilling some of the promises made to the farmers such as the mass spraying of cashew farms and free distribution of cashew seedlings to farmers across the country.
President Akufo-Addo on In February 20, 2018, President launched the 10- year Cashew Development Plan, aimed at diversifying Ghanaian Agriculture in Wenchi Municipality of the then Brong Ahafo Region.
