A small scale miner and member of the Association of Small Scale Miners, Osei Kwame, has disclosed on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm that his concession which was legally given to him to mine legally, has been forcibly taken away from him by some associates of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Reacting to the latest galamsey fraud expose by Ana’s Aremeyaw Anas, the small miner said, although he had gone through the vetting by the inter ministerial committee on small scale mining, he has been frustrated hence his decision to let go.
According to him, he was not surprised to have seen some of the officials compromising their work to allow illegal miners operate.
He was also not happy at the processes that led to the ban on small scale mining and said, it brought untold hardship on small miners.
Osei Kwame said, “I was surprised when I saw the tape. Small scale miners go through frustration before their concessions are approved. My concession was taken away from me and I was told it would be used for community mining. I have tried to get it back but all to no avail.”
A Presidential Staffer and Secretary to the Inter-Ministerial Committee on illegal mining (IMCIM), Mr. Charles Cromwell Bissue has been indicted in the latest exposé by investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
