National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP for Tamale Central, Alhaji Inusah Fuseini, has expressed disappoint in Bryan Acheampong over his revelation that the hooded men deployed during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election were national security operatives.
The MP described the revaluation as irresponsible and deceptive.
He stated emphatically the hooded men were not from the national security but thugs and vigilante men belonging to Bryan Acheampong.
He told host of Frontline, Kwabena Agyapong on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm that, the hooded men were sponsored thugs of Bryan Acheampong and endorsed by President Akufo-Addo.
Bryan Acheampong has confirmed that the hooded heavily armed security personnel who unleashed violence on some voters in Thursday’s by-election in Ayawaso West Wuogon were officers from the Counter-Terrorism Unit of the National Security Council.
The AK 47 rifle-wielding hooded security personnel stormed the residence of the NDC Parliamentary Candidate at La-Bawaleshie and shot six people injuring them in the process.
The action by these hooded men has been widely been criticised.
The Director, Public Affairs and Director of Operations of the Ghana Police Service, ACP David Eklu and DCOP Alex Mensah have both denied knowledge of who the hooded security personnel.
But Bryan Acheampong says the hooded men were deployed based in an intelligence gathered by the national security of a possible violence by some NDC thugs.
But Alhaji Inusah Fuseini says the position taken by Bryan Acheampong is shocking because it was needless for the hooded men to be deployed.
The Police CID he suggested could have been deployed even if it was true there was a possible planned violence.
The legislator is also worried the existence of these hooded men would have serious security crisis on the country.
A change of government he noted would render these people useless and because they have been trained on how to use ammunitions, it may lead to serious security crisis.
He questioned, what are they going to do when they fall out with this government? They have been trained and armed and so how do we control them when they are no longer working for this government?
To him, these hooded men have been rewarded by the ruling government and that makes the issue more dangerous for the country.
