If you want anyone to blame for galamsey, blame NDC not Nana Addo-NPP MP

The Member of Parliament for Manso Adubea, Yaw Frimpong Addo has sent the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to the cleaners over their claim that President Akufo-Addo has failed in the fight against galamsey.

He has also shredded the NDC for attacking Senior Minister Yaw Osafo Maafo over his recent comments on Aisha Huang.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP said the NDC does not have the moral right to point accusing fingers at the NPP over the influx of foreigners in the illegal mining business.

He told Kwabena Agyapong on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm that the use of excavators by illegal miners, started between 2012 and 2016 under the NDC government but they failed to crack the whip on illegal miners and allowed them to continue with their illegal activities.

He said, it took President Nana Akufo-Addo to deal with galamsey. After he assumed office, he realized our water bodies were being destroyed by illegal miners hence his decision to initiate measures to fight galamsey. His initiative has achieved positive results and yet, we have the incompetent NDC deceiving Ghanaians and peddling lies about Nana Addo. Aisha Huang has been in Ghana and operated for several years before the NPP took office. It took the bold step by the NPP to have her arrested,” he said.

Reacting to the comments by Mr Maafo, Mr Yaw Frimpong Addo said, the Minister may not have been understood and that there were some diplomatic issues that one is not allowed to make public.

”Diplomatically, there are some issues you are not allowed to disclose. In diplomacy, there are certain things you cannot disclose. Maybe the Senior Minister said the things he said in passing but unfortunately it has become the topical issue,” he added.
