Kobina Sam, a man describing himself as a guardian of ‘Striker’ real name Emmanuel Nii Adom Quaye- has rubbished claims that, the child actor who featured in 'Beast of No Nation' alongside Abraham Attah, was cheated and now a beggar.
Social media users were shocked after photos of ‘Strika’ went viral after a student of Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ), came into contact with him today [Monday]. According to the student, one Caleb Nii Boye, the child was begging.
In a Facebook post which has gone viral, the student wrote: ‘’I am sad this morning. I was heading to the Ghana Institute of Journalism campus and I met Striker. You would ask who is Striker? Striker starred in the movie Beast of No Nations. The said film that made Abraham Attah. Today I met him begging for money on the road leading to GIJ. I called him and brought him to campus. Speaking to him he tells me he now works with a gentleman who sells Yam at Agbogbloshie Market. He stays with his grandma at North Kaneshie”.
But reacting to the story, Kobina Sam, who has been slammed for allegedly cheating the child actor, posted on Facebook saying, ‘Strika’ was given equal treatment just like Abraham Attah but has chose his current path because of his stubbornness.
The post (unedited) read: ‘’He’s been given everything in this world…He was paid same as Abraham and we have managed to get him more roles.
‘’The producers didn’t let him go back to the street after the movie. They sponsored his education at a Montessori school in Cape Coast with same Abraham Attah…He is just being stubborn. Nobody left him in the streets. He was brought to a proper home…I know this for a fact cos I’m one of his guardians. He lied to the guy found him…He has chosen that part of life. We got him a role in this movie [AZALI] Chk his name…Emmanuel Nii Quaye. He has another movie with Yvonne Nelson and Dumelo titled ‘Jungle Justice’…We are trying for him…Don’t feel sorry for him cos I can assure you his not POOR.’’
