The Ministry of Interior has declared Monday, January 7, 2019, as a public holiday.
A statement issued and signed by Minister Ambrose Dery said the day “has been declared a Public Holiday as “Constitution Day”.
It further admonished the public to observe the day as such throughout the country.
Government few weeks ago laud before parliament a bill seeking to amend the public holiday act.
The three are the African Union (AU) Day which is observed on May 25, the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Day on September 21 and First Republic Day on July 1.
The following public holidays, New Year’s Day (January 1), Independence Day March 6, Good Friday and Easter Monday, Farmers’ Day, meanwhile will remain same.
