The Medical Superintendent of the Juabeng Municipal Hospital in the Ashanti region, Dr. Hamilton, has appealed to government to give the facility a facelift.
The doctor says the hospital is faced with logistical constraints; a situation he noted is having serious impact on the delivery of healthcare in the area.
The hospital he noted does not have access to a vehicle to transport them to from the hospital.
He disclosed to Rainbow Radio’s Kwabena Amoateng that the hospital depends on the benevolence of others; fuel their vehicles in order for them to run the hospital on daily basis.
The hospital does not also have access to an ambulance and have to depend on taxis to transport patients who are transferred to other health facilities including the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
The hospital in 2015 faced similar challenges where they hard to depend on the proceeds that came from the Mortuary Department to manage the hospital.
Funds from the hospital’s mortuary were used to buy fuel to power a stand-by generator in order to keep the facility running.
The hospital spent 10,000 Ghana cedis every month on fuel in the face of worsening power crisis in 2015.
