Ken Agyapong, Muntaka in a verbal blow on the floor of Parliament

Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong and the Member of Parliament Asawase, Muntaka Mubarak have engaged in verbal blows on the floor of Parliament today [Wednesday].

The Assin Central MP threatened to assault Muntaka Mubarak who also dared Mr Agyapong to do his worse.

It took the intervention of some MPs to calm the MPs down. It is unclear what sparked the exchanges between the two MPs but it is believed the decision by Muntaka to drag Kennedy Agyapong before the privileges committee over the brouhaha surrounding the murder of Ahmed Hussein-Suale angered him.

Kennedy Agyapong was heard saying, ‘’I will face will squarely and in his response, Muntaka Mubarak said, ‘’I am waiting for you.’’

Kennedy continued, ‘’I will face will squarely…Why were you sacked as a Minister? I am not done with you yet,’’ he added.

Another MP later escorted him [Agyapong] out of the chamber.

Kennedy Agyapong has been referred to the Privileges Committee in Parliament following a case of contempt brought against him.

Minority Chief Whip, Muntaka Mubarak, called on the Speaker to refer the member to the Privileges Committee over his comments made regarding the late Ahmed Hussein-Suale who was murdered by unknown assailants at Madina few weeks ago.

Majority Leader, Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu on his part did not object to the call for the matter to be referred to the Privileges Committee.

The MP has however, promised to give anyone who gives information that will lead to the arrest of the killers GHc100,000.

The legislator says his reputation is at risk hence the decision to reward anyone who will give out information the killers.

“What I want to do is that anyone who is willing to give us information about the killers, I will reward that person with GHC 100,000 because I have to protect my reputation. The youth said they saw the killers so they should come out and help us find the killers,” he promised on Net 2 TV, yesterday [Monday].
