National Chairman of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, has reacted to claims of him making comments that have been described by the police to have security implications through a leaked tape.
Speaking on the issue of the alleged leaked tape, which sought to expose plots allegedly suggested by him on how the party was going to target members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), and make life uneasy for them, Mr Ampofo flatly denied the claims and assured supporters of the NDC and Ghanaians in general that, he does not support violence and has never engaged in violence
Mr Ampofo said he will continue to remain focus and win power for the NDC come 2020.
“…I want to assure you that I am a man of peace, and my hands are clean. I have been in politics for many years, there’s no evidence I have won my victory through violence or spoken against anybody. I want to remain focused, the NDC wants to remain focused. We will win the election freely, fairly and clearly.”
According to him, his over 30 years political career has be decent and one without any form of violence and that, there was no available form of violence or evidence of violence that could he attributed to him.
“I have been in politics for many years, there’s no evidence I have won my victory through violence or spoken against anybody. I want to remain focused, the NDC wants to remain focused. We will win the election freely, fairly and clearly. The NDC believes in the rule of law and we are Democrats. … I want to assure all Ghanaians that the NDC will not kill women to win power, the NDC will not kidnap people to win power, the NDC will not insult to win the power, the NDC will bring a message of hope to Ghanaians” Chairman Samuel Ofosu Ampofo said.
He was addressing party supporters at a health walk organised by the NDC to celebrate the victory of Mahama as candidate for the 2020 polls today (Saturday March 2, 2019).
