Former Ghana Football Association President, Kwesi Nyantakyi has disclosed on Accra based NET2 Television some mafias at his former office sponsored Anas’ Number 12 project with an amount of $400,000.
Speaking on the issue for the first since the premiere of the video in 2018, Kwesi Nyantakyi said some persons who wanted his downfall paid Anas the amount to carry out the project.
This he noted informed Anas to demand the same amount from him to have the tape shelved.
According to Mr Nyantakyi, he could not afford the amount and Anas and his team through a lawyer who lecturer at the University of Ghana, Legon asked for $150, 000 to have the story shelved.
But his inability to pay the money annoyed Anas who later premiered the illegally recorded video to tarnish his image and satisfy his paymasters.
Kwesi Nyantakyi who appears to be disturbed described the Tiger Eye PI company as an illegal entity violating rights of people and recording them for money.
He admonished Ghanaians not to hail Anas because he is not a saint as we see him because, ‘’he and his team are in business for the money. They are not working in the interest of the state; they are interested only in the money,’’ he said.
Kwesi Nyantakyi was handed a life ban from all football-related activities by FIFA last year following various violations of the governing body’s ethics code, including bribery and corruption.
Nyantakyi, a former member of FIFA’s General Council, was found guilty after being filmed by an investigative journalist in a hotel room appearing to take a $65,000 bribe from a supposed businessman seeking to sponsor the Ghanaian football league.
He was also fined 500,000 Swiss Francs ($498,000).
