The Member of Parliament for Builsa South and member on the Foreign Affairs Committee Dr. Clement Apaak, has slammed President Akufo-Addo for rubbishing the call on him to conduct a presidential probe into the alleged $12 million Oslo chancery deal.
The legislator also described the media encounter as disaster by stretch of imagination.
He further jabbed the president for making reference to the guinea fowl saga and compared it to the drone saga and yet, brushed down the Chancery deal.
Dr. Apaak expressed surprise at how Mr. Akufo-Addo could overlook the alleged inflation of cost of ($12 million) of a six-bedroom residence for Ghana’s new mission in Norway and disappearance of fuel and yet be worried about ‘flying birds’.
The Minority has called on the president to conduct a probe into the alleged inflated cost of the chancery, which is estimated at $12 million.
The president flatly rejected the call and said he will not waste time on baseless accusations.
The president in his response said: when you have allegations that are so empty of substance, and then you say that merely because it has been made, you therefore have to have an independent inquiry, I know that it will be in the interest of some people to make sure that we don’t work, we just get ourselves entangled in all those red herrings and everything, so before you know it’s 2020 and they say aahh they said this and that but they have not been able to do this, I’m not going to buy that. I’m not going to, I’m going to stay focused.
“Somebody comes and makes a serious allegation that is worth investigating, I’ll be the first to accept it. I have done it already in my government but not on things like this.”
But reacting to the response from the president, Dr. Apaak said: ‘’Folks! OurPresident sees nothing wrong with buying a property sold for less than $4million in 2017 for over $12 million to our nation in 2018! The President sees nothing wrong with fuel disappearing from holding tanks, he is worried about flying birds! Well birds can fly, what of fuel? Mr. President you are naked!Your encounter with the media was a disaster by every stretch of the imagination. In your rush to indirectly reply the man of the moment, the”come back kid ” JDM, you ended up justifying why Ghanaians will #GO4JM
