Nalerigu is capital for new North East Region

Nalerigu has been chosen as the regional capital for newly created North East Region.

President Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House announced this during the presentation of Constitutional Instruments (CIs) for two out of the six new regions.

The president in his speech assured residents of the region that government projects and structures will be equitably spread across the region.

He said, ‘’already, as contained in the President’s 2019 budget, a seed capital of GHc20 million has been allocated for each region to aid in its smooth take-of. Government will make sure that the desire for growth and progress, which was the underlining reason for the vote for the creation of the North East Region, is met.’’

Meanwhile, the president has charged the Northern Regional Minister, Mr Salifu Saeed, to act as caretaker minister until a substantive minister ids appointed.

The present went to indicate that, ‘’the North East region is the bread basket of the Northern Region, and one of the biggest suppliers of food to the entire country, and it is only appropriate that we help facilitate its rapid development.’’
