A former Deputy General Security of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho has described as disgraceful the press conference his own party held to politicize the arrest of the suspected kidnappers of the two Canadian nationals.
The outspoken politician said the action by the party is insulting and should not be entertained by right thinking Ghanaians.
According to him, such an action cannot win any political party an election hence the need for politicians to desist from politicizing criminal matters.
He was wondering why political parties would be engaging in the blame game and pointing accusing fingers at each other when people have been created for engaging in criminal activities.
He has therefore called on Ghanaians to cast out such politicians like demons.
To him, any politician or politicians who engage in such acts are political demons and nation wreckers and must cast out in order for the country to survive.
The NDC has accused the Akufo-Addo government of doing everything possible to conceal the identities of the Ghanaian suspects who were arrested by the security agencies in the kidnapping of two Canadian women in Kumasi, Ashanti Region because four of them are affiliated to the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
At a press conference on Thursday, 13 June 2019, the NDC’s National Communication Officer, Mr Sammy Gyamfi, said: “Colleagues from the media, very typical of the Akufo-Addo government, which has perfected the art of subterfuge and diversion in concealing its failures, after over 24 hours of such a high-profile arrest of the kidnapper, the entire nation is being kept in the dark as to the real faces behind that dastardly act. However, as the government tries behind the scenes to manipulate state security into concealing the true identities of these criminals, we did not go to sleep”.
“Through our painstaking and diligent investigations, we have unmasked these thugs behind the recent kidnapping. And we shall proceed to share the chilling details with the Ghanaian people so that they will know the manner of people who are leading us today”, Mr. Gyamfi said.
He identified the four alleged NPP-affiliated suspects as Seidu Yakubu (aka Mba), Abdul Rahman, aka ‘Wofa’, Sadat Oboe and Safina Alokere.
But Mr. Anyidoho says the press conference was disgraceful and disgusting.
He said: “let us cast out politicians who politicize crime out like demons. It is disgusting and disgraceful. I repeat, let us cast out politics who politicized crime like demons. They are nation wreckers. They do not cherish the nation and do not have a love for the country. That is not how to win an election. I was shocked but it was disgraceful.”
He added: “People have committed a crime, disgraced the nation, kidnapped people and when they are arrested, you politicize it! This is disgraceful. You can insult for speaking the truth, I don’t care.”
