Female entertainment critic and radio personality, Efia Papabi, has described the new logo designed for the National Theatre as a lazy piece of art.
Speaking on GH Entertainment on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, she said, the art work does not reflect the values and culture of the national theatre.
She said as a former employee of the theater, she feels disappointed and embarrassed that the theatre has outdoored such a Lazy piece of art work.
According to her, it is a waste of state resources and has asked leaders of the facility to bow their heads in shame for such a poor work.
The National Theatre last week launched its five year strategic plan and new logo.
The launch of the strategic plan and logo according the theatre is a sign of the rebirth and a new direction that it is embarking on to reposition the theatre in the hearts and minds of all Ghanaians.
As part of the 5-year strategic plan, the theatre is expected to go through some renovations hopefully within the next 14 or 16 months, to change the face the building which was constructed by the Chinese government.
Board Chairman of the National Theatre, Nana Fredua- Agyeman Ofori-Atta has indicated that the renovation of the building is their topmost priority.
At the launching ceremony he said: “there is going to be a renovation of this space, the Chinese government constructed this building, we are grateful to them because if they hadn’t done it, we wouldn’t be here. Luckily for us, they have obliged to renovate the place so we are hoping that within the next 14 or 16 months, we should see some real renovation and changes in this place, this place needs a museum, a library, a conference centre and many other facilities.”
“Participate in our cultural activities as we have beautiful festivals all across the country throughout the year, there is no day, no month that we do not have cultural festivals in every part of the country.”
The winner of the New Logo competition Quist Henry Adokwei, was also awarded. The completion offered creative designers between the ages of 18-35 years the opportunity to create an official logo for the Theatre.
