A Nigerian by name Samuel Ikechukwu has been arrested in connection with the alleged attempted abduction of two minors’ ages 2 and 4 in Kasoa.
The incident took place today [Thursday], when the suspect allegedly attempted to transport the minors from Ghana to Nigeria.
Police said the suspect was formerly dating the mother of the two victims but the relationship had hit the rocks hence Ikechukwu as a form of pay back, attempted to transport the minors –all boys- to Nigeria.
According to Detective Corporal Boamah Adei, the suspect and mother of the victims Jenifer Amoah, dated for a year but the lady demanded a break-up because the suspect had failed to introduce her to his parents.
He disclosed on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.6Fm that the misunderstanding between the suspect and Amoah, started about three weeks ago.
He said the suspect had on one occasion assaulted and inflicted knife wounds on the lady.
He said, ‘’on Monday, the suspect stormed the residence of the lady at dawn, knocked on her door but she refused to open it for him to enter. On Wednesday, the mother of the victims left for work leaving her three children behind including the victims. The suspect then sneaked into the house, abducted the children and left with them on a motorbike.’’
Detective Adei said the lady reported the incident to the police after she was told the fiancee came for them.
”The suspect was traced to his residence at Tema but when police officers got to the house, Ikechukwu had parked out of his room and had moved to Tema station where he was boarding a public transport to Nigeria,” the officer narrated.
”He was quickly arrested and currently in police custody,” he added.
