The Greater Accra Regional Secretary for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Theophilus Tetteh Chaie, has asked the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), to focus on their internal party matters and stop meddling in the affairs of the umbrella family.
The former legislator told Kwame Tutu on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm that, President Akufo-Addo alone donated an amount of GHc600, 000 towards the running of the party’s presidential primary when it was financially strapped in 2014.
He said, ‘’Nana Addo coughed out GHc600, 000 for the party in 2014. He did that all alone but the NDC is asking all aspirants to pay GHc400, 000 to support the process to elect a presidential candidate and the NPP says what?
‘’What is the difference? If Nana Addo could cough GHc600, 000 in 2014, why should it be a problem for the NDC candidates to pay GHc400,000? They should give us a break and stop meddling in our affairs. It is none of their business,’’ he emphasised.
Five out of the 12 candidates who expressed interest in contesting the NDC race have picked nomination forms to contest.
The deadline for the picking of the nomination forms was yesterday [Tuesday] December 4, 2018.
