National Chairman of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, has been granted bail on condition of GHc500, 000 with two sureties.
Party’s General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia and Greater Accra Regional Chairman, Ade Coker, stood as sureties.
He has been charged with threat of harm, conspiracy to commit harm, assaulting public officials and rioting
The under fire chairman was invited by the CID to answer questions over an alleged leaked tape which has been attributed to him.
In the said tape, the politician with over 30 years political experience, allegedly endorsed insults on the Peace Council Chair, Reverend Professor Emmanuel Asante and Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mrs Jane Mensa.
Addressing party supporters after he was granted bail, the chairman said, the NDC is a law abiding citizen and would not undermine the peace and security of Ghana.
He also said his tape was doctored for political reasons and has insisted he is not a politician who would endorse thuggery or lawlessness.
