The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is accusing the Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, of targeting people for assassinations, kidnappings and threatening the lives of members of the elephant family.
The Communications Director of the party, Yaw Buaben Asamoah, addressing a press conference at the headquarters in relations to an alleged leaked tape of Samuel Ofosu Ampofo said, the plot of assassinations, kidnapping of Ampofo t is a violation of the fundamental rights of the people they have targeted.
The NDC he said have exposed themselves to the nation following the tape that has gone viral.
To him, former President John Dramani Mahama, cannot exclude himself from the comments by Mr Ampofo because he is deep rooted in it and his boot for boot comments could be associated to the comments made by his party chairman.
Describing Mr Mahama as a greedy politician, he said, the former president and his party are greedy individuals whose quest fort power is making them destabilise this country for their desire to come back to power to create, loot and share.
He called on NDC members who are ‘’right thinking’’ Ghanaians to condemn the comments and demand the resignation of Samuel Ofosu Ampofo.
To him, today [Wednesday] is a watershed for Ghana’s democracy because Ghanaians woke up to a leaked tape with the voice of Mr Ampofo planning to weaponise party members who he referred to as terrorists group to create disorder and terrorise Ghanaians.
The NDC is a violent party and because of their quest to win power, they have plotted to cause mayhem but they have been exposed.
It’s been reported that the Azorka Boys – who tried to forcibly prevent the National security operatives from acting on their intelligence, caused the misunderstanding resulting in six people being shot but the NDC has vehemently denied this assertion.
But in the secret tape Mr Ampofo is heard briefing members of the NDC in an undisclosed location about what informed his decision to announced that the NDC had pulled out of the election barely two hours into the exercise.
“I mean you have Chief Azorka in my meeting saying, Chief thank you, I said why, he said if you had not taken this decision I don’t know how my men would have gone back to Tamale. The issue is that they had brought down the Kandahar Boys and the Kandahar boys know our boys from Tamale. You know it was a targeted attack and so once they spot you they invite them, and then around that time my people were so defenseless and they had packed themselves in pickups so cordon off and hounding them was very very easy and they had not anticipated all these things coming so it hasn’t been easy but for me how we take the battle from here is most critical.
“It is a question of mind game that they’ve come to play, I was here because I thought I should come and lift your spirits up and let you know that it was not a cowardice decision at all. It was a strategic decision which will benefit us,” Ofosu Ampofo added.
