Former Coach of Accra Great Olympics, Godwin Attram, has said training as a footballer and combing school was extremely difficult in the past as compared to what we witness today.
In an exclusive interview with Sokoohemaa Kukua on the mid-morning show on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, the former coach said, only a few people mastered the courage to combine their education with football.
Parents in the past did not encourage their children to play football because they saw footballers as lazy, vagabonds and irresponsible people.
He said, parents disciplined their wards and discouraged them from playing football.
But today, the situation is different. In the past, talented people played football. However, people with passion are being taught to play the game in modern times.
‘’Wealthy people are now encouraging their children to play football. Today, with passion and a good character, you can be taught how to play football in a very good facility,’’ he noted.
He said, you have to be skilled, disciplined and with a good character to be a successful player. Indiscipline and laziness will take you nowhere if your aim is to become a professional player.
