Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the National Sports Authority (NSA), Mr. Charles Amofa, has disclosed on Rainbow Sports that the sale of all forms of alcoholic beverages have been prohibited at the Accra Sports Stadium in the upcoming Kumasi Asante Kotoko and the Accra Hearts of Oak game.
He explained to Rainbow Sports the decision was to prevent people from misbehaving or prevent confrontations from supporters under the influence of alcohol.
He assured soccer lovers’ preparations were far advanced and the pitch, dressing rooms and all other facilities needed for the crucial match were in place.
The Authority will be engaging all stakeholders including both Hearts and Kotoko representatives, medical, security GFA, among others to find other ways to make this match a success.
He admonished Ghanaians especially supporters of both teams to come to the Stadium in their numbers.
The Porcupine Warriors initially pulled out of the competition following disagreements over the match venue and gate proceeds but later rescinded their decision.
Kotoko progressed to the semi-finals of the Special Cup after finishing second on Premier A table behind Ashantigold who will take on Premier B runners-up Karela United.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko on Monday left Kumasi for Mampong to prepare in the next couple of days for Sunday’s Normalisation Committee (NC) Special Cup semi-final match against rivals Accra Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium.
