Government is set to begin the construction of the Shukura market in the Shukura Electoral Area of Ablekuma Central Constituency.
This was made public by the Member of Parliament , Hon Ebenezer Gilbert Nii Narh Nartey during the inaugration of Lord’s Wembley Plus by the President of the Republic of Ghana in Ablekuma Central Constituency.
The project is expected to develop strategies for the implementation of one of the government’s flagship interventions under Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Programme (IPEP).
The IPEP is a key intervention of Akufo-Addo’s NPP government aimed at directing capital expenditure towards constituency-level infrastructure and economic development priorities.
This intervention is also expected to promote inclusive development, create jobs with active involvement of the market women and traders in the constituency .
According to Hon Nartey, the Shukura market is a central and critical market that serves a number of communities in and outside Ablekuma Central and the project will give the market a major facelift, enhance economic and trading activities in the constituency.
Plans are far advanced to begin the construction and work is to commence in *March, 2019* with the first phase expected to be completed within a period of 6 months.
