A communications team member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Techiman North District, Adam Johnson, has justified the boot-boot comments made by former President John Dramani Mahama.
Reiterating the position taken by Mr Mahama, Adam Johnson said, the NDC will match the NPP in the same measure they have planned.
He said, if the NPP should come in peace to the various polling stations during the 2020 polls, we will also meet them in peace. If they should come with bibles to the polling stations, we will also come with bibles but if they should come with guns like what they did at Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, then we will equally come with guns to match them squarely.’’
According to him, Mr Mahama had every right to make the comments he made because the NPP has unleashed their thugs on the umbrella family and in order to defend themselves; they have planned to match the NPP by their own standards.
He accused the NPP of trying to misconstrue what the former president said but insisted the NDC will equally pull guns should the NPP do it in 2020.
‘’It is simple, if the NPP approach the 2020 polls in a violent manner; we will also approach them in a violent manner. If the NPP should approach the elections in a peaceful manner, we will do the same thing. That is the meaning of boot for boot.’’
