Unemployment major cause of existence of vigilante groups-Nunoo-Mensah

Former National Security Coordinator under the erstwhile NDC administration, Brigadier General NunooMensah, has warned of serious crisis if the current state of vigilantism in Ghana, is not curbed.

The crisis he cautioned maybe difficult to manage if steps are not taken to tackle the situation in the next few years.

To him, the lack of jobs for the unemployed has made it much easier for young people to be used by politicians to formant trouble, create vigilante groups as well as engage in lawlessness.

He was speaking to Kwabena Agyapong on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5.

He was reacting to the shooting incident that occurred at the Kumasi regional headquarters of the opposition National Democratic Congress.

‘’The chaos witnessed at Kumasi and other areas shows that, the youth are fed with the system, it means they do not have jobs to do or a place to lay their heads.

One person was confirmed dead following a shooting incident at the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party office at Amakom in the Ashanti Region.

The Police, who confirmed the death, gave the deceased’s name only as Wasiru.
