The United Nations (UN) Secretary General Special Representative, Dr. I’m Chambas, has said the US will assist efforts being employed to have political party vigilante groups disbanded.
He said, as part of efforts to help resolve the issue, the UN remains committed to lend its support to ongoing efforts led by the National Peace Council.
He has therefore admonished all the political parties especially the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Dr. Ibn Chambas said, “the UN is hopeful all parties will participate in reaching a consensual agreement to comprehensively resolve this phenomenon.”
Meanwhile, he has said that at the regional level, “partnership with other West African States and Regional Organisations, are essential for Ghana and indeed any country to ensure its territorial integrity and to provide a secured environment for Ghanaian citizens and the Ghanaian state.”
