We were not briefed on security arrangements for AWW By-Election-EC Boss

The chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Mrs Jean Mensa has told the Commission Inquiry the electoral body did not receive any security briefing before or after the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election

She made the comments when she appeared before the Commission today [Friday].

According to her, although the EC officially wrote to the police for the information, it was not provided.

“…we didn’t receive any detailed briefing from them as to how they were going to deploy.’’

“They didn’t provide us with a list of personnel they were sending to each of the polling stations going to deploy,” she added.

Asked about the operational plan “about how many they [police] were going to deploy,” Mrs Mensa answered, “no.”

She said there was an initial meeting with the Greater Accra Regional Director of the EC with the Accra Regional Commander of the Police.
