Secretary of unpaid Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) trainees nationwide, Abubakal Saddick, has disclosed that they will stage a demonstration on Friday 11th April, 2019 to prompt NABCO authorities since other means to address their grievance have proved futile about unpaid stipends of the trainees.
“Since the inception of the flagship programme some trainees have not received their stipends, while others have not received theirs from January, 2019 till date.
In an interview with Kwabena Agyapong on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, he further stated that they are being threatened by the coordinators of removing their names off the programme if they don’t remain silent, but the president called on us to be citizens but not spectators.
“In case you follow up to know why you haven’t paid your stipend, your coordinator will tell you I have sent your information to the secretariat so follow up, the secretariat officers will also tell you we have paid everybody so go back to your coordinators”.
We don’t understand why NABCO authorities blame us for our unpaid stipends only to tell us we have not updated our information. I have taken my salary with the same information so what has happen today that I can’t receive my stipends for the past months” he quizzed.
He explained that the sad part of their story is that NABCO authorities keep demanding of them, the need to update their data despite the challenge some of them have especially those in real communities without access to internet facilities.
