President Akufo-Addo during the 2016 election campaign, promised to build a dam in villages of the three regions of the north, via a well-planned irrigation policy.
He said a robust irrigation policy “one-village-one dam” will make Ghana crop all year round and eventually become a net exporter of most foodstuff.
As a result, the DCE for Zabzugu, Hon. Ahmed Iddrisu Abubakari over the weekend, joined the people of Ojoja to inspect the progress of work on the “One village, One dam” project at Ojoja in the Zabzugu district.
He inspected the project site including the earth-moving machines, escavating and bulldozing of the earth for the 1v1d.
The DCE met the people of the community and advised them to collectively owe that novelty of a project. “Water is life.” “We are giving you life for your survival economically and life sustainably throughout the year.” He told them.
Hon Adakwa as he is popularly called, however expressed his dissatisfaction on the indiscriminate felling of trees there and cautioned them to stay away from that act as anyone caught in that, would not be spared.
He was accompanied by the Constituency Scribe, Youth Organiser of the NPP and a member of the security committee.
The people of Ojoja lauded the DCE and the Nana Addo led government for the provision of the dam which they described as a life saving project.”Now we can farm the whole year because of this dam, your children will not go for kayaye and truck pushing in Tamale, Accra and Kumasi.” They said.
